With Tuttle baseball’s Alex Conover, ‘what you see is what you get’ – Presented by Patriot Heat and Air

#WYSISYG…What you see is what you get.

For Tuttle High School senior Alex Conover, this acronym defines a correlation between the effort one puts in, and the rewards received.

“When it comes to playing the game, Alex lives at the baseball pond working meticulously to make himself and his teammates better every day,” said Tiger head coach Breck Draper.

Alex says it’s all about having a game plan.

“Baseball is already hard enough but with the right mindset you can better understand your mistakes and how to overcome them.”

The influence of his parents and their military background has resulted in the self-confidence and hard work approach to everyday life that Alex embraces.

“Dad and mom have done everything possible to put me in the best position to succeed in not only the game of baseball but also in life,” said Alex. “The military background that they share I believe is apparent in the way that I have been raised.”

Numero Uno on the mound for the Tigers, the right handed pitcher has plenty of gas with his fastball running it to the plate at speeds of 88-91 miles per hour. He also spends a lot of time catching, playing shortstop or third base, and creating offense for the Tigers with the bat in his hand.

“At the plate, he’s a threat as a left handed hitter. We moved him into the leadoff spot, and he’s homered in multiple games in his first trip to the plate,” said Draper.

Having reached the state tournament finals last year but coming up short, Alex is hungry for one more chance.

“I shed a few tears after the loss for sure, but I don’t even think that it was aimed towards the loss; mostly from the sadness that after all the work, time and struggles, it almost felt like a waste because it wasn’t enough to get the job done,” Alex said. “This year’s squad is different in so many ways. Guys are stepping up and taking accountability, wanting it more and ball games are being won. That will get you a lot farther with a lot more success in those tough, hard to grind out games and situations.”

Its proof that Alex Conover knows what it takes to finish the job everyday.
