Bridge Creek’s Anthony Enriquez – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Patriot Heat and Air

Leadership is being someone who can lead by his or her actions not just words. And for Anthony Enriquez, the life changing dedication of the past 12 months is proof that you can accomplish anything if
you’re willing to do whatever it takes. During the past 12 months, the Bridge Creek senior has used a physical and mental reformation to not just make himself a better football player but also as an inspiration to his teammates.

“I realized that I truly loved playing football and if I was going to play, I had to make a lifestyle change that included in me losing a lot of weight,” Anthony said with confidence after losing over 80 pounds through a stringent diet and workouts. “Remaining consistent to the game plan was the most difficult. I was determined to not only show loyalty to Bridge Creek High School and myself but also to my teammates. I wanted to prove that if I can do this, so can you. Together we can reestablish winning football.”

The head coach of the Bobcats, Larry Spangler watched as Anthony bought into a new plan for success, on and off the field.

“He’s believes in himself, his teammates and coaches and our mission for success,” replied
Spangler, now in his second season with the Bobcats. “At nose guard, Anthony can and will run ball carriers down. I know that I wouldn’t want to be the opposing center that lines up across from him.”

In addition to his football prowess, Spangler makes note of how he keeps everyone, including the coach happy on a daily basis.

“Number 68 (Anthony’s jersey number) is a fun guy to be around because he’s happy about life. Anthony is the first one I talk to because I know he’s going to put a smile on my face.”

For Anthony Enriquez, there’s no room for negativity, in football as well as everyday life.

“There’s no need to be sad all the time because if you are, not too many good things are going to ever happen. I hope my smile will help someone else have a better day.”

For Anthony Enriquez, happiness is about going from good to great by making every day better than the one before, on and off the field.
