Blanchard’s Landry Gray – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Oklahoma AgCredit

Landry Gray
Blanchard High School
Landry Gray is a junior at Blanchard High School where she plays fastpitch softball and is a member of the FFA chapter. Grey first got involved in FFA when she entered her freshman year.

“I got involved with 4-H when I was ten. I joined FFA my freshman year at the age of fifteen. My dad encouraged me to get involved with 4-H and FFA,” said Gray.

Gray is involved in several activities with FFA and loves showing her livestock. “What I enjoy most about FFA is the amazing relationships and the lessons it has taught me. I am the Blanchard FFA Chapter reporter. I am also involved in showing pigs, and I have done many contests including speech, meat judging, and animal judging. I show pigs of many different breeds for the chapter,” said Gray.

Outside of sports and FFA, Gray is involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and National Honor Society. As a member of the softball team, Gray said she loves the relationships she has built while playing softball.

“The thing I love most about the softball program is probably the relationship I have built through it. I love my teammates. The thing that I love most about my team is that we try to pray and stay in our Bibles together and we help each other in our different walks of faith,” said Gray.

The junior mentioned her parents being a big influence in her life and what her plans are after she graduates.

“My biggest influence in my life would be my parents because no matter what sport or activity or group I ever wanted to be a part of they have never told me no, even if they didn’t think it was the best decision at the time, they always backed me up and allowed me to do it. My plans for after high school aren’t that clear yet, but I know I would like to go to college and study horticulture and minor in business,” said Gray.

She offers this advice to anyone considering FFA.

“The advice I would give a student who wants to join FFA would be just do it. What will it hurt to join the class. If you don’t like it, you can always just do something different next year,” said Gray.
