Tri-Cities Area Athletes Named to Area Softball Players to Watch – Presented by Mid-America Technology Center

Layla Menhusen – Bethel

Layla is a clutch player. She came up with several big hits in key moments last fall. She’s very good behind the plate and a big time leader.

Quinlyn Johnson – Blanchard

Quinlyn has 60+ stolen bases and she has led the team in hits and runs scored the last two seasons. She will continue to be an impact player this season.

Jayden Chidester – Bridge Creek

She has a bright future ahead of her. She led the team in all hitting categories last season. 

Gia Saggese – Edmond North

A four year starter, Saggese has been one of the go-to hitters on the team.

Hayley Ford – Edmond Santa Fe

Hayley is an incredible athlete. She had a .414 batting average and a .523 on base percentage as a freshman. She had five home runs and a .981 fielding percentage. She is so knowledgeable of the game and others will step up their game as they play alongside her.

Miley Hicklin – McLoud

Miley is coming off a season where she had nearly 100 strikeouts in the circle as a freshman. She started every game last year as a freshman in the circle or at shortstop. She is looking to have a big sophomore season and improve on her success from last season.

Noreli Brown – Midwest City

Brown is amazing in the circle. Entering her third year, she is already a two year starter. She pitched 137 innings last year with 252 strikeouts and 107 walks. Her bat is hot as well with a .361 average last year which was about the same as her freshman year. 

Libby Jaques – Moore

Libby is a quality athlete on both sides of the plate. She has speed and power and her softball IQ is impeccable. Libby is a great role model and teammate for her squad. Her work ethic and drive never waivers.  

Amelia Mason – Mustang

Amelia will be the Lady Broncos ace on the mound again this season. She had only four varsity innings coming into 2023, but stepped in and quickly took over the number one title. As a junior, Amelia finished the season with a 17-3 record and she was the District Pitcher of the Year and a second Team All-COAC performer. 

Ashtan Gainey – Norman

Ashtan is a senior who has been a starter since she was a freshman. She led the team in almost every offensive category last year and plays many different positions. She is a vocal leader and is always the first person to cheer on her teammates. Look for her to continue being an offensive presence in the lineup and a leader in the locker room.  

Juliana Linares – Norman North

A four-year starter on varsity. Made the top ten stat list in most categories as a freshman in the circle. She has led the team to the Regional Finals her first three years. When she was not pitching she played solid at second base and outfield. 

Taybor Moss- Piedmont

Taybor will be a four-year starter in the program, the last two years at catcher. She was named the District Offensive Player of the Year last year, and will garner a lot of awards after her senior season. She is committed to Washburn University.

Kandace Burnett – Southmoore

She has started every game for the Sabercats since she stepped on campus. The junior will be relied upon heavily to steer the Sabercats ship back to the state tournament. Her bat will be big in the lineup as she helps anchor the infield defense of the Sabercats at multiple positions.

Preslee Ray – Westmoore

Preslee is a vocal leader who seeks to constantly improve. She uplifts and motivates her teammates, even when she is having an off day. Her passion for her sport is obvious in the way she plays the game. Preslee is a consistent leader who her teammates rally around. She is often the life of the party while maintaining her focus for competition.  

Maddie Ogle – Yukon

Maddie is an outstanding young lady that excels when she is on the softball field. She has worked hard to get where she is and she looks to have another big season.
