Bridge Creek’s Caison Rich – Football Spotlight – Presented by Patriot Heat & Air

Caison Rich

Bridge Creek High School

The Bridge Creek Bobcats have not enjoyed much success on the gridiron since the program started in 1988, but coach Larry Spangler is starting to get things turned around with players like Caison Rich.

“Caison is a real quiet guy, and we even have to look around everyday to see if he made it to Summer Pride which he always does,” joked Spangler, now starting his third year. “He’s one of the hardest workers on the team and he’s a real leader through his work ethic and I think he’ll have a tremendous year for us.”

Caison didn’t take part in organized sports growing up until some of his friends convinced him to give football a try his sophomore year and he’s loved it.

“I like being out there with the team and though it can be tough at times, I like playing Friday nights and giving it my all,” said Rich.

Caison plays offensive guard and defensive end and says he likes being on the offensive side best.

“I like being able to help push the ball down the field and protecting the quarterback and running backs.”

After high school Caison thinks he might look at getting into the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and went to their annual summer camp this year at Connors State.

“We learned a lot of discipline and respect. We took a driver’s safety course, and they taught us how to shoot. We learned a lot about the history of the highway patrol and did a lot of conditioning. But we also had some fun and got to go to a water park one night.”

Last year’s 4-6 record was the Bobcats best since 2011 when they went 5-7 and won a playoff game and as Caison starts his senior year he’s looking forward to helping the Bridge Creek program continue its turn around.

“It’s really been special to be part of this team trying to build the program back up. This year my goal is to get at least one pancake block per game and make the playoffs.”
