Bridge Creek’s Hayden Phillips – Football Spotlight – Presented by Wright Water

Hayden Phillips

Bridge Creek High School

When Hayden Phillips steps onto the football field he brings with him athleticism, skill and most importantly faith. Sharing his faith with Bridge Creek High School students is a role he embraces as a student athlete. “It gives me a platform to share my faith and help lead my teammates and fellow classmates to the Lord,” he says.

Hayden is a BCHS senior looking to the future while cherishing the memories he made playing inside linebacker and running back. “Football has taught me to do everything I do to my full potential because you get out what you put in and it gives me an extra opportunity to get into college. Always give 100 percent effort in anything you do because you never know the outcome that will come from it.

“It also gives me something good to look back on when I graduate because of the friendships that were created. My favorite memory is an interception returned for a touchdown against Tecumseh last year to help put my team ahead,” Hayden said.

Hayden is most inspired by his Mimi who makes the best breakfast casserole. “She has been through so many things that many cannot do. She got divorced early in my mom’s life, she quit smoking about two years ago, and she has been one of my biggest supporters in all the sports I do,” he says.

He looks up to teachers and teammates who influenced him. “Mrs. Kelley is my favorite teacher because she has been one of the nicest and most influential teachers I have ever had. Ryan Place, who graduated last year, left the biggest impression on me because he pretty much took me under his wing my junior year and helped me to be the player I am now.

I first want to thank God for giving me the talent and opportunity to play football. I also want to thank coach Braxdan Turner for giving me the opportunity to play varsity my sophomore year, and all my family members and friends who have supported me through the years of playing football. I also want to thank all my current coaches for the opportunity to play with such an amazing group of players and coaches,” said Hayden.

Hayden placed second at state in powerlifting in 2024 and throws the shot put in track. He is in FCA, National Honor Society and is actively involved in his church’s youth group.
