VYPE: Nalyssa, what grade are you in and how long have you played softball?
Nalyssa Metheny: I am a junior and I’ve played softball for 13 years.
VYPE: What position do you play?
NM: My primary position is left field and I also pitch.
VYPE: What is your favorite memory or moment as a student-athlete for Bridge Creek?
NM: There’s not really one moment that sticks out for me…I mean they’ve all been pretty good. But some of my favorite moments are made in the locker room with my teammates before games.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite subject in school and a favorite teacher?
NM: My favorite subject in school is Math and my favorite teacher is Ms. Hutchison, and she teaches History.
VYPE: What makes BCHS a great place for you as a student-athlete?
NM: It gives me the opportunity to play the sport that I love while also having fun.
VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing, who is the most serious?
NM: Kallie always keeps me laughing! Jayden is the most serious.
VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
NM: I listen to music before games and tournaments.
VYPE: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
NM: “Slay the dragon or the dragon slays you,” Coach Underhill.
VYPE: What’s the goal for life after high school?
NM: I plan to continue my softball career in college while I pursue a degree in business and eventually, I’d like to certify as a Real Estate Agent.
