Hailey Shinn Wraps Up First Season on the Diamond – Presented by First National Bank & Trust Co.

By Trina Walker

Having control of the game and the excitement of striking girls out is the best part of pitching for Bridge Creek fastpitch softball. Hailey Shinn may only be a freshman, but her journey into softball began when she was five.

Hailey’s inspiration to play came from her mom. “She had a passion for the sport during her own childhood. She often shared stories of her experiences in the field, which sparked my interest. Eager to share this love of the game, my parents signed me up for a local softball league.

“From the very first practice, I was captivated by the thrill of the game. The sound of the bat hitting the ball, the excitement of running the bases, and the sense of teamwork all resonated deeply with me. As I continued to play, the ballfields transformed into a second home, a place where I could develop my skills, build lasting friendships, and create memorable experiences that would shape my childhood,” said Hailey.

From memories of competing alongside friends to learning the valuable lesson of accountability, “softball is just a fantastic sport,” she says.

Hailey proudly represents BCHS every time she steps onto the field. “Competing against others and showcasing my talent is a thrilling journey. The mix of nerves and excitement I feel while representing my school drives me to give my absolute best on the field,” she said.

Being selected as the district pitcher for her team as a freshman is her favorite accomplishment. The following advice pushes her to grow as a player. “Never stop practicing, for even the greatest athletes consistently sharpen their skills and refine their technique through fundamental drills.”

Hailey is thankful for her strong support system. “I want to give all the praise and glory to God for allowing me to play the sport I love. I feel incredibly grateful to my parents for always being there for me and for their unwavering support. Their belief in me has meant the world. I also want to acknowledge my coaches, whose encouragement has consistently inspired me to strive for my best each day,” she said.

Hailey also plays on a travel softball team, basketball and golf.
