Blanchard’s Noah Smith
By Trina Walker
The brotherhood among teammates is a big part of football. It is a bond developed during the adrenaline of games and through the sweat of tough practices. Noah Smith, a junior at Blanchard High School, says this brotherhood is his favorite part of being on a team.
Noah is a quarterback for BHS. He enjoys being around a group that is working toward the same goal. He has learned about life on the football field. “Football has taught me to be patient. Even when times are hard, you just have to battle through it,” he says.
He has gained a lot of experience since stepping onto the varsity field as a freshman. “Control what you can control, and everything will happen in the right way,” is advice that helps him day-to-day, he says.
He cannot imagine what his life would be like without football. “I’ve been playing the sport for six years and I’ve created a lot of great relationships that I wouldn’t have if it weren’t for football.
“I got into playing my sport in the fifth grade because my brother had played football, and it just looked fun. One day, I just picked up a football and started throwing it and I was good at it,” says Noah.
When Noah came to Blanchard, Brayson Carter was a teammate who stepped up, making him feel welcomed. “He helped me with everything I needed to know.”
Noah is thankful to all his coaches, past and present. “I just wanna say thank you to all the coaches I’ve had, especially Coach Zo, who is my old Westmore coach, and my parents for all that they’ve poured into me.” Noah’s biggest inspiration is his dad. “He’s always been there for everything and has taught me everything.”
Representing his school as a student-athlete feels good. “Just being able to have people look up to you and see kids wanting to get pictures and give you high-fives,” he says, “just makes me happy.”
Noah wants to continue playing football through college. He hopes to play for a Division I team and study in the medical field.
