Tuttle’s Jett McCoy – Football Spotlight

Tuttle’s Jett McCoy

When you are a multi-sport athlete with aspirations to play at the next level, there is one thing Jett McCoy says to do. “Believe in yourself.”  This Tuttle High School senior shows athletic diversity on both the football and baseball fields.

Jett’s desire to play football began early in life as he grew up admiring his dad, who was a collegiate football player. “My dad played college football at Missouri, so I always wanted to play too.” Jett played on his first football team in the third grade. He is now a safety and wide receiver for the Tuttle Tigers and a state champion.

His love for baseball also grew through the years. He is a skilled third baseman and an asset to his team. Jett’s baseball career will continue into college as he is committed to play at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. “My plan is to attend Hutch for one or two years and then play Division I baseball after,” he said.

Athletes are passionate about their sport. Jett’s passion is fueled by his team’s mutual goal to win a state championship. “My favorite memory was going on the postseason run in baseball season and making it to the state championship,” he said. Winning a state championship in his senior year is a goal he strives to achieve.

“Seeing everything you work on as a team come to life in the games,” is the best part of being on a team, says Jett. Having fun with close friends and winning games are what he likes most about playing sports.

Jett learned a valuable life lesson by being an athlete. “Trust the process, even if you’re not good at something in the moment, you can get better.”

The teammate who leaves the biggest impression on Jett is Easton Green. “He helped me a lot when I first moved to Tuttle and became a really close friend.”

In the classroom, Jett’s favorite teacher is Coach Layman. He teaches history, which is Jett’s favorite subject. Going to Washington, DC to experience American history in person was the best trip Jett has ever taken. “I love history and getting to see all of the memorials was really cool,” he exclaimed.

Jett is inspired by his parents because they want him to be great. Their support encourages him to be his best. He is thankful to his family and his coaches for helping him and always being by his side.
