Bridge Creek’s Brooke Gentner
A versatile member of the Lady Bobcats cheer squad, senior Brooke Gentner fills several important roles in stunts. She can serve as a main base, side base or back spot, making her a dependable teammate in a sport built on timing, communication and trust.
“Cheer has taught me so much more than just skills. It has taught me how to work hard, trust others, push myself, and appreciate the people beside me. It has shaped me into the person I am today, and the person I will become in the future.”
Gentner has also found success beyond the sidelines. While balancing the demands of school, work and cheer, she is set to graduate from high school with an associate degree — an accomplishment she values deeply.
“The accomplishment I am most proud of is being able to have the privilege of graduating high school with my associates degree while balancing school, work, and cheer.”
Her drive to meet high standards has been influenced by people who recognized her potential early. Gentner credits former teacher Mrs. Deskin, who taught her in sixth and eighth grade, with helping her see more in herself.
“My favorite teacher was Mrs. Deskin, who taught me in the 6th and 8th grade. She saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself, she believed in me and push me to be the best possible version of myself. She was a very important part of where I am now and how I hold myself up to higher standards.”
Faith also gives Gentner strength through the challenges of daily life. She says her relationship with God provides hope and direction as she works toward the next stage of her journey.
Her appreciation extends to teammate Hailey, whose encouraging presence has made a lasting impact on the team, and to her parents for their constant support.
“The thank you I want to give it to my parents, they have always been there for me through every phase, every dream, every mental break, though I didn’t make it easy on them, their love and encouragement got me to be the person I am today and the future I have ahead of myself. Without them I would be lost, so that’s who I chose to say thank you to.”
