VYPE: Connor, what game(s) do you compete in and what grade are you in this year?
Connor Keirn: I’m the Captain of the Super Smash Brothers Ultimate team, and one of the main players of the Mario Kart team. Senior year baby! Last time through!
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Blanchard?
CK: I love how, even though we’re all so different and have our differences with each other, we still all act like this huge dysfunctional family in the best way possible, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
VYPE: When did you first get involved with the e-Sports team?
CK: My sophomore year when we still had the old esports coach.
VYPE: Favorite subject in school and favorite teacher from any grade?
CK: I love math, so much that I plan on becoming a math teacher after graduating, and as far as my favorite teacher goes, it has to be Mr. Dallas Ketchum at the high school. He’s half the reason I even want to teach in the first place!
VYPE: Favorite moment in your career as a student at BHS?
CK: There’s two answers to this one, and there’s no way around it. The first one is winning our 4a Band state championships with sweepstakes my junior year, and the other was getting esports back up and running after my sophomore season.
VYPE: What other clubs or groups do you belong to at school?
CK: The big one is definitely Band, but I’m also part of the Media/Broadcasting class,
the book club, and co-captain of the Academic Team!
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
CK: I feel like the expected answer is gaming, but I do like doing more than just that! I also enjoy reading, meeting new people, and making music!
VYPE: Which teammate is the most vocal and which teammate keeps everyone laughing?
CK: Katelynn is definitely the most vocal, but Kolt is by far the funniest out of all of us
VYPE: What’s the strength of your abilities and what are you working on to improve?
CK: I think I’m really good at making sure that people are included and making sure everyone is having fun, but I’m not as good at being a good leader that I wish I was.
