BRIDGE CREEK BOBCATS

Coach: LARRY SPANGLER

3-7

OFFENSE

Speeding things up appears to be the plan this season for the Bridge Creek Bobcats and head coach Larry Spangler. “Offensively we return five starters and will be young on the offensive line but will have the most speed at our skill positions we have had in several years,” said coach Spangler. VYPE Top 100 selectee Tristan LaBlanc will handle some of the duties up front from his guard position. LeBlanc is a four-year starter and a player with a tremendous work ethic. “He qualified 2nd in state in Class 4A and wrestled and ran track for us this year. He is a very hard-working young man, respectful, and one of the best offense and defensive lineman I have coached. I look for Tristin to have one heck of a year,” said coach Spangler. One player happy to see LaBlanc in the lineup is quarterback Keaton Morrow (6-1, 185, Sr.). Morrow has plenty of weapons at his disposal including running back Lathan McKnight (5-10, 175, Sr.) and wide receiver Jake Gerken (5-11, 185, Jr.). Both players will have key roles in the offense this year. Also look for running back Wyatt Leonard (5-11, 175, Jr.) to be that compliment to McKnight in the backfield and receiver Gavin Schalk (5-11, 170, Jr.) to have a big season in the passing game. Look for the Bobcat offense to run a lot of spread formations with an RPO mentality.

DEFENSE

Seven starters are back on the Bobcat defense including LaBlanc who can play multiple spot up front. Coach Spangler said the defense will base in a 4-2-5 because of the number of defensive backs on the team, several of which can play outside linebacker. “We will be very aggressive on defense and have the speed to swarm to the ball or drop back in pass coverage. We will play games with our defensive ends, line, and inside linebackers to make sure we keep offenses off guard. This will be the third year we have ran this defense and it fits our personnel,” said coach Spangler. Zack Baxter (5-10, 175, Jr.) returns at linebacker giving the team a physical player who pursues well. Leonard will see time at linebacker with Baxter as well as McKnight who will start at outside linebacker. Eli Woods (5-11, 175, So.) and Hudson Miller (6-0, 175, Jr.) will shore up the secondary giving the Bobcats players who can prevent the big play and keep opposing QBs honest. Woods started as a freshman and will likely see time on offense. Also look for Paydon Martin who suffered an injury last season but returns this season and could see time at running back.
