NEWCASTLE RACERS
Coach: JESSIE BROWN
OUTLOOK
The arrival of winter means the gyms will heat up and the hoop stars will make their way to the hardwood. For Newcastle High School and head coach Jessie Brown, the new season offers new opportunity for a team with seven seniors on the roster. Of those seven seniors, three are VYPE Top 100 selectees with one junior giving the team four of the top players in the class.
Ivan Antwi-Donkor (6-4, Sr.) can play guard or forward for the Racers. TJ Williams (6-8, Sr.) is a forward who can play the post and give the Racers a real presence in the paint. Kolton Brammer (6-2, Sr.) is a guard who makes an impact on both ends of the floor. Joey Folsom (5-11, Jr.) joins the seniors on the Top 100 watch list. Folsom is a point guard who makes great decisions with the ball.
Other seniors to watch include Alan Price (5-11, Sr.) at guard, Jon’Tre Sloan (6-6, Sr.) at forward, Kael Brickman (6-1, Sr.) at guard and Santorrio Boykins (6-4, Sr.) at forward. This group is hungry to help this team win.
Weston Lightle (6-5, Jr.) and Carston Pueppke (6-3, Jr.) are two versatile players who can help this team in many ways. Both are capable of playing a guard spot but have the size to be effective at forward.
Underclassmen to watch include Cole Seely (6-0, So.) at guard, Owen Wright (6-9, So.) at forward, Deacon Lyles (6-3, Fr.) at guard, and Nathan Espino (5-11, So.) at guard.
The coaching staff includes Rod Kindred, Ethan Conner, and Quentin Blue.
