OUTLOOK
Newcastle girls basketball enters the new season with championship level ambition after a 23-win campaign that left the Racers firmly on the statewide radar. With four returning starters and a gifted young core head coach Jim Perinovic guides one of the most complete and competitive rosters in class four A.
Sophomore standout Kalani Kindred (6-1) leads the program after a remarkable freshman season in which she averaged 17 points and 8.0 rebounds while demonstrating a rare blend of playmaking strength and court awareness. Her ability to score at every level push the pace and defend the rim makes her one of the most impactful underclass players in Oklahoma. She will once again be the centerpiece of Newcastle attack.
Forward Amara King (6-1, So.) provides a powerful interior presence with soft touch and strong footwork. Junior post Ziyah Sims (6-3) anchors the paint with rebounding mobility and toughness giving Newcastle two interior players who can dominate the boards and control defensive matchups. Senior guard Reagan Greenroyd (5-7) stabilizes the backcourt with steady leadership and perimeter shooting while sophomore Jailiana Salas (5-7) provides length and quickness that make her one of the top on-ball defenders in the region. Greenroyd averaged 7.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per contest. Also look for Jordyn Richardson (5-10, So.) who can play the combo guard spot giving coach Perinovic another option in the backcourt.
Newcastle has size pace shooting and defensive versatility across the starting lineup and several bench players who can contribute immediately. The Racers expect to defend aggressively run the floor and overwhelm opponents with a balanced and composed attack.
