Where Are They Now? Newcastle’s Ryan Corbin – Presented by First National Bank & Trust
Newcastle High School has produced standout student-athletes whose achievements reach well beyond the Racers’ blue and white. Softball star McKenzie Wagoner headlined that legacy in 2020, when she became Newcastle’s first Gatorade Oklahoma Softball Player of the Year, recognized for state-best pitching, a .460 batting average and a 4.27 GPA before signing with Liberty University.
On the gridiron, quarterback Casey Thompson emerged as one of the state’s premier recruits, earning a four-star rating and finishing as a Top 25 quarterback nationally in the 2018 class after leading Newcastle’s offense.
Multi-sport standout Ryan Corbin excelled in both football and basketball, later landing at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where coaches praised his versatility and academic achievements.
Today, Corbin is married to Kelsey Corbin who works at the Newcastle Elementary School at a PE teacher. They are raising their four sons Kruz, Kreed, Kyzer, and KJ.
“I enjoy spending time with family, lake trips, coaching my boys, working out, and also I train agility and strength conditioning with Newcastle athletes when I’m not at the fire department,” Corbin said.
For the last 9 years Corbin has worked at the OKC fire department earning the rank of Lieutenant.
