VYPE: Ava, what do you love most about your team and teammates at Blanchard and what grade are you in this year?

Ava Smalley: The thing I love most about my team and teammates is how close we all are. We are all pretty bonded this year, and we’ve built a sisterhood feel this year that I love! I am a junior this year!

VYPE: Who inspires you? Explain.

AS: My mom inspires me the most because she always is helping me to be the best version of myself I can, and always pushes me not only in cheer but life also. My mom is my best friend, and I am so extremely grateful for everything she has done and is doing for me!

VYPE: When did you first get involved with the spirit team?

AS: I first started in cheer in 7th grade.

VYPE: Favorite subject in school and favorite teacher from any grade?

AS: My favorite subjects in school are English and Math. My favorite teacher is Ms. Wright, because I had her in 3rd grade, and I have her again this year. I have grown such a special bond with her and know that she is always there for me when I need her to be. She is true definition of always going above and beyond for her students and I will always be appreciative for her!

VYPE: Favorite moment in your career as a student-athlete at BHS?

AS: My favorite moments of being a student-athlete is definitely during homecoming getting to be involved in the parade and pep rallies at our school!

VYPE: What other clubs or groups do you belong to at school?

AS: At school I am also apart of NHS and Students Against Destructive Decisions.

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

AS: In my free time I love to hang out with my friends and family. One of my favorite things to do is hangout with my mom and go shopping!

VYPE: Which teammate is the most vocal and which teammate keeps everyone laughing?

AS: The teammate that definitely keeps everyone laughing is always Nevaeh! She is seriously one of the funniest people in practice and always lifts the mood!

VYPE: What’s the strength of your abilities and what are you working on to improve?

AS: The strength of my abilities is my work ethic. I would say I am very hard worker, and I am always trying to better myself for my team. I am always working to improve my tumbling and basing skills.
