In his first season at Bridge Creek, head coach John Boogaard says “I am very excited for my first season” and believes “we have a chance to do a lot of great things this season.” Boogaard says he really likes the senior class and has “been impressed with them and how they have bought into the new staff and me,” and he is “looking forward to seeing the noise we can make in year one.” The Bobcats finished 1-9 a season ago, but with a new staff and renewed energy, Bridge Creek believes it can take a significant step forward.
Bridge Creek runs an 11 personnel offense and will look to utilize its playmakers in multiple ways. Senior running back Wyatt Leonard is one of the top returning players after rushing for over 1,000 yards as a sophomore, and while he missed his entire junior year due to a torn ACL, Boogaard says Leonard “has a great wrestling season and is doing everything right to make sure he has a great senior season.” Senior tight end and defensive end Logan Phillips started every game as a junior last season at both positions, and Boogaard says “we are a big 11 personnel team and see him being utilized in a big way this season” while also expecting him to “be a big-time impact player on defense for us.” Sophomore tight end and linebacker Keyton Sugg returns after starting a handful of games as a freshman, and Boogaard expects him to “have a big impact for us on both sides of the ball.” Sophomore linebacker and running back Hunter Eberhardt played every game as a freshman and led the team in tackles, and Boogaard says “as a sophomore look for him to be a leader of our defense starting at mike for us.”
With a new coaching staff led by assistant head coach and defensive coordinator Brian Hopkins, offensive line coach Evan Smith, linebackers and strength and conditioning coordinator Dalton Cooper, corners coach Brian Volk, running backs coach Chandler Standridge and defensive line coach John Briggs, Bridge Creek has a fresh start and renewed optimism heading into 2026. The Bobcats believe their senior class has bought into the new culture and that the energy and commitment from their returning players can help the program make noise in year one under Boogaard
